The NHS does not seem to want to look after the older patient, some have had to have a prescription for would you believe WATER, the very basic for life, the next thing being food, now I have to agree time is a problem here, how can they possibly spend so much time with the elderly who have to have constant help to eat, but help is what has to be given you can't just leave these patients to die because they have not eaten or had a drink, why should they worry? they have many other things to worry them i.e. paper work, the hospital could not exist with out their targets, it is not I believe the responsibility of the nursing staff to complete nonsensical paper work, it is their job to nurse patients need their help not see them sitting in the nurses station filling in forms, so they must look into just what they are into the job for!!!.
The problem with food in a hospital is that much of it is frozen food rather than fresh, as a time saver many have gone to cook and freeze, this food is produced by an off site company and then sent to the hospital and reheated, can that be good for you?? it is no help at all and it has to be said that this type of food does nothing to aid recovery, the only way is to provide proper fresh cooked food with local veg and meat, not difficult but they seem to think that they are saving money but at what cost, I always thought it was for the NHS to make you well not worse!, so they have to start thinking about the well being of the patient not the hospital budget.
Can I recommend that you look at the 38 Degrees web site and if you have a wish to support the NHS join this lobbying group.

NHS
This is getting a real pain in the bum, our illustrious Health Minister is playing games again with the NHS, for some reason this government has a downer on the NHS, placing impossible restrictions on it, this just might be the end of the NHS as we know it, it is remarkable that today's MP's seem to have a total disregard for the health of the Nation, why is it that they promote private companies to provide health services?, is it because many just might be directors of these companies? who knows not I, but some thing or one is up to no good, I would have thought and expected that any government who wants to play about with our health should go to the country and secure a mandate to behave in the manner that they are at the moment, they have no mandate for the plans that they are implementing now, so I have to say beware you might open your eyes when it's too late.

Living in England
I have to ask just what the hell this government doing to the elderly in this country, is it their intention to kill us all off to save money in pension payments?, maybe!, just heard that a pension is a benefit!!, no it isn't, we have paid into the pot for 50 years or more to receive this pension it has nothing to do with benefits, so on your bike Mr Cameron and you as well as Mr Clegg, age will come to you sooner than you think!, but of course why should you worry your future is well looked after you will not want for food, heat or any other pleasure in life, so it is us that have to worry, many of us on the bread line, either heating or eating not both, so we can vote you out, yes we can but just look at the alternative Ed the incompetent, or Ed Balls who can't add up but aspires to greatness as chancellor fat chance, so what can we do?, nothing we just have to hope and pray sooner or later hopefully sooner that these idiots will realise the pain they are inflicting on the elderly and the disabled as well.

Social Housing
I just am at a loss as to just what the government is actually up to, just who thought up this bedroom tax?, whatever is said all it is for is to remove elderly people from the home that they have lived in for 30 years or more, these are people that have never had the chance to buy, in their life time you went to work, married and went on the council waiting list for a council house, when you took this house you took it for life all rooms in the house included in the tenancy, so just where do they stand now? it seems that they will have to pay for any empty bedrooms, then comes a little problem one sleeps in one room the other in the second room because of sleep problems one or the other partner suffers from, but this is not acceptable, the wonderful officers who say that you are married so you only need one bedroom and no excuses as to why you might need two. So I say give it a rest let people live out their lives without any extra pressure, one thing is for sure many elderly people will fall ill over this and feel that they are being forced out of their life time homes, so who will benefit from this?, I will leave you to form your own opinions on this I am sure you will be thinking the same as me.

Food
Well so we have horse meat or should I say small traces of it in some process food, well bless my soul what a massive problem this is, on the scale of things happening in the World today it just does not matter, but it goes on and on, first Roumania then France then Ireland and all points North South East and West, it matters not who or how it happened it did, nothing can be done about it most of it was eaten and now the rest has been taken off the shelves so there it ends or it should do, I have said that processed food is not good dietary food, pies are full of all sorts of things but to be sure very little meat at all that is why they are so cheap, so if you want to be sure you have to buy better food or face the consequences, with all this fuss over so little I just ask myself what is happening that is being kept from us i.e. hidden.
Most of the problems with processed food is that it has to be cheap that is the main criteria nothing to do with food value, children, hospital patients and prisons have that in common, they are trying to feed them as cheap as possible, and look at this more closely what do all these have in common?, they do not have a voice to complain and when and if they manage it they are not listened to.

Benefits
It seems that the government has at long last decided to look into the benefit claims of the immigrant population just might have a problem being allowed to claim benefit including child allowance that is going to Poland at the rate of £23 million a year, then we have legal aid, why should people who are not really welcome in this country be able to appeal and appeal at a massive cost to the tax payer, then comes the NHS how is it that immigrants who have not paid one penny into the system be allowed free care, when we go abroad we have to be insured to be able to pay for any treatment we might need but here we just let anyone who cares to attend is treated free, why are they not required to have insurance to cover the cost, in the world out side the UK if you cant pay you don't get treated so is it not time for us to get a grip of the situation, no more child benefit for children who do not even live in this country, and why should the cat lawyers make vast amount of money appealing lost cases who are not only costing us money for legal costs but the cost of housing these people in remand prison at a vast cost, and then we come to housing!, why are these people being allowed accommodation especially in London at a very large cost to the tax payer, it has to stop we as a country can not stand this we have now taken to removing benefit from UK nationals to make up the short fall, I have difficulty finding the rational here, we have to stand up and let MP's know just where we stand before its too late.

NHS and Education
I hate to say I told you so but I am afraid In did several times, the word care has to be put back into the NHS, the Francis report is damming of Mid Staffs Hospitals and rightly so but the fact that no staff whatsoever have been disciplined is a disgrace you can't work without responsibility, be it a CEO or a Porter all have a responsibility in the care of a patient, but here we have a total disregard to care replaced by the desperate need to meet targets whatever the cost, so who will learn from this debacle?, hospital trusts probably not as they are now on a massive save money campaign, so who will be used as a saving why of course the patient, the patient who is lying in a bed who in a lot of cases can't complain because they are to ill to, so if you can't care or do not have the time to make a noise tell the management they are responsible they carry the can, but if you stay quiet you carry it do you want to?, I think not.
I supported a Head Teacher a couple of years ago, a great man in my eyes, a great teacher who I can't speak highly enough, he resigned from his post through no fault of his own who has now moved on, his school that he left was on a satisfactory rating by Ofsted is now inadequate really good for the children their education has slipped and all the governors and head can do is claim that the school is improving, the news on the street is not so rosy many parents have spoken to me saying that the school and the education it offers is rubbish their words not mine, what a sad situation for the children, one thing for sure the school will go on its merry way with the same inadequate teaching that it has now and sad to say had before, one really great bit of news the old head moving on has a new school that has progressed tremendously so much so that he has been voted teacher of the year in the town that the school is in, says a lot to me!!.

Life
Had a very busy day yesterday, ended up with my grandson hurting his back falling off his scooter, then it starts, call 111 the new number got advice finally being told that it would be quicker to dial 999, at this time he looked very ill feeling sick had a headache, it is difficult to find his home so I stood at the end of his street waiting to give directions to the ambulance, very windy and cold, I waited and waited very cold, a further phone call 999 and still had to wait finally a fast response paramedic arrived over 2 hours after the first call then it took a further 20 mins for an ambulance to arrive, now I have no complaint regarding the treatment given to him by the crews they were very efficient and helpful, but the service was so long arriving it was awful, if they are really busy they should tell you that there will be a delay because of demand not leave you in limbo it was very worrying time and caused some grief to his mum and the rest of the family, as it turned out he was OK had a jarred back and needs to rest for 2/3 days, this is another thought about just what you can expect from the ambulance service, it seems to me that every area of the NHS is in turmoil something has to be done the service just can't sustain these levels of cuts!!.
I have to say that I am not anti NHS but it seems to me that the bill pushed through Parliament by Andrew Landsley was a massive mistake, it will become apparent after April 1st when it becomes fully active, just the right day really April fools day, you can make some savings but you can't keep cutting or you end up with an empty purse, the government has to accept that the NHS has to have increases each year to provide essential services, it has to be realised that there are more and more elderly needing help, unfortunately causing bed blocking at the hospital, why does this happen? because local councils have abdicated their responsibilities regarding the elderly closing any homes that they ran leaving care of the elderly to the private sector, and it seems that there are not enough places for them, this government has managed to destroy the health service as we knew it, obviously no one told ministers that the population is getting older by the day, time to reverse some of these decisions and get us back to being a caring community not one who does not give a dam!!.

NHS
I see that South Staffs hospital trust is in the news again, 400 to 1200 preventable deaths over several years, so what's new about this, well because of the changes that the government has brought in is decimating the NHS, they said it would be patient led, I don't think so, GP;s know what is best for us, I don't think so, reality is the service is collapsing, do not listen to our MP's who tell you all is well, well it is not, staff are leaving the sinking ship and not only because of the cuts but they can no longer stand the insecurity of the hospital they work in, the NHS did need sorting out but not to this extent, the government has demanded cut after cut this has to mean a depletion of service to the patient it has to, no amount of spin will change this, and I say this as a patient, if you are young and think you need not worry you do!!, one day you just might become ill then you will realise just how bad things have gotten to, you need to be aware now not later or it just might be too late for you and your family, to run an efficient NHS you need to provide the correct budget that can be effectively worked too, you can't cut and cut because it does not work, but then every government as soon as they get in to power mess with it, some times that can be for the good but this time it is for the worse, I worry a lot about it as I am getting on a bit and I dread to think of just what might happen to me, will all hospitals follow the South Staffs hospital Trust and fail to care for the patients???.

My Take
Well here we are, all this death and destruction in the world, the Middle East in turmoil death all over, Mali, the French involved and then dragging us in as well so we will no doubt have visits from Islamist Terrorists, and receive their best wishes or a bomb most likely, so what are we going to do?, as usual nothing, we will just mill along just hoping it goes away, but the problem is it won't, why is it we accept these factions in the UK, so frightened so as not to offend them or abuse their human rights, this has to be the silliest behaviour we as the UK we have ever shown to the World, not surprising that they all take the p**s out of us, not only do we not want to offend them we also pay benefit to their family while they are away training to be a terrorist or even killing British troops wherever they might be, it will never end it will go on and on, they melt away when the going gets tough and reappear when the coast is clear, just watch Mali, we have to take action now not later, we have to have our security first and foremost not the human rights of people who were not born in this country and in fact wish death and destruction on us.
