I am so pleased that it is over, I remember in my youth when election time came round we used to be harassed to death with leaflets and knocks on the door, my mum used to answer the door and no matter who it was she would say she was voting for them, I was a councillor in the 1990's, to get elected you spent a considerable amount of time canvasing and delivering leaflets, it was hard work, when I was elected it got harder as every month we delivered a leaflet to every house in the ward, 2 surgery's a week and your phone number available to any one in the ward and often some from outside the ward, you were accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.
Now in the ward we have a councillor's who never to be seen, no election promotion for them, no knocking on the door, nothing no effort to gain a seat, but success that is undeserved, with that in mind I registered for the election as a candidate, did absolutely nothing at all and received 598 votes, it amuses me that this amount of people voted for me, so it just goes to show now it really matters not what you might represent you can affect the vote just by being a paper candidate, people are so reticent to elections that most take no interest at all if they do vote they might just be a toss up as to who gets the cross.
I just hope that many will vote in the EU referendum, and I hope very much for them to vote Leave, but it is frightening fact that most will in fact sit on their hands and do nothing, this is a vote for our kids, do we want them to live as a state in the EU, or stay British????, without a doubt if we decide wrong we shackle our kids to who knows what!!!!!!, can you not VOTE ???????.
