I have spent a lot of time as an a hospital inpatient over the past 18 months, so I think I have the knowledge to comment on the fact that we are consistently being told that we have to import nurses from not only Europe but the World, we are told that the NHS would fall apart without them, is that true, the big question is why are our qualified nurses are choosing to leave the profession?, some emigrate to get better pay, some just leave the NHS and join an agency because the agency pays better than the NHS, so we have these foreigner's taking their places, it is sad for me as I have difficulty understanding them as they do not speak English to well, I have been looked after by Russians, Romanians and al points east, they do not understand my name and are unable to say it, they have often made mistakes with my medication and |I have had to correct them. it makes me laugh that when discharged and are asked to fill in a feedback form patients just put in that they were satisfied with the treatment they received because they just want to get the hell out of the hospital, and some are frightened to say anything just in case they have to be admitted again and they think that it might be remembered and the service they get the next time might be worse, so we have to import nurses but would it not be far better to train more nurses in this country and for once pay the nurses a proper wage so that they do not need to leave the NHS and we will have a proper service.
