NHS

Thursday morning, breakfast, corn flakes and toast not enough butter but what can you do??, had a cup of tea!! well that is what they said it was but it was so weak I just could not drink it, soon learned to have a mug and your own tea bags brought in so you can get a decent cup, then you have a Menu for the day, so I thought I would have fish and chips with mushy peas, with rhubarb and apple crumble with custard, tea a baked potato and salad, so a mad house all morning doctors everywhere, mine arrived looked at the notes fist words to his registrar were "5 days" meaning it seems I was to spend the next 5 days as a guest of the hospital and I was to be moved to the cardiac ward, so lunch arrived a plastic container that had water on it then the plate of food ???, and a clear cover then it is microwaved or so I am told, that is steaming that is told you to put you off track, the chips were a non event about 10 on the plate, the fish was a reconstituted fish burger type with disgusting mushy peas, the saving grace was the crumble, I did notice over my stay everyone seemed to order this on every occasion they could.
tea arrived at 5pm, my baked potato had never seen the inside of an oven a microwave yes, now they do not have  any salad so a sandwich was suggested, what can you do, then cup of tea,  coffee or Bovril for a bed time drink and a packet of biscuits. So ended my first 24 hours as a guest. I am still in the A&E Short Stay ward, no move to Cardiology yet, I wonder if I will be moved during the small hours of the night we shall see.
